The Ohio eSchool Families and Friends Coalition responded to a so called report on Ohio's online schools (or eSchools) released by a new liberal Columbus-based group, Innovation Ohio, earlier today.
Response to Governor Kasich?s Proposed Budget
The following statement can be attributed to President of the Ohio eSchool Families and Friends Coalition, Sara Donlon:
A DAY OF LEARNING AT THE STATEHOUSE
Many students in Ohio take field trips to visit the Capitol building during the school year. Today several public eSchool families took that visit one step further ? meeting with Senators and Representatives to discuss the benefits of their unique education experience.

This time of year families in Ohio are focused on the start of another school year. And the thousands of public eSchool families across Ohio are no different.

Legislative Update: House Releases Budget Revisions

Last evening, the Ohio House of Representatives Finance Committee released their changes to Governor Kasich's original budget. There are no significant changes that affect public eSchool funding. From what we've seen so far, it looks like public charter schools (including online schools) will receive a funding cut of about $50 per pupil.

Capitol Day a Success

Earlier this month, families from all around Ohio came together to learn about the latest legislative issues, especially the upcoming state budget.
Governor Kasich Releases State Budget

Governor John Kasich released his proposed 2012-2013 state budget today. He had to make up for an $8 billion budget gap so we weren't sure what would happen with funding for public schools.

Rose Fernandez, Director of the National Coalition for Public School Options (NCPSO) and eSchool mom appeared alongside education experts Ron Packard, k12 CEO and Colin Hanna, President of Let Freedom Ring on John Stossel's Fox Business Channel show.
For one family, an eSchool met the different needs of all of their children.

The Dayton Daily News published two GREAT articles today about eSchooling in Ohio. The articles highlighted the Sellers, a real life eSchool family, who found that their eSchool met the different educational needs for all of their children.
